The Pre-Games for next year’s FIS Nordic World Ski Championships got acknowledged for good arrangements, top notch atmosphere and service improvements. The visitor count of the event was lower than expected, but the ticket sales for the Lahti2017 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships has started well.
The Pre-World Championships were an important rehearsal and test for the organizing committee, renovated venue and upgraded services.
- We got very good feedback from both the athletes and the International Ski Federation (FIS) about the venue and the athlete’s village in Vierumäki, says Sports Director Tami Kiuru.
- The feedback we got from the spectators has been extremely positive. The visitors have been really pleased with the new spectator areas and the side programme offered. The wide selection of food has been acknowledged and the sales figures considering food look promising. What is also positive, the amount of tickets sold before the event has increased from earlier years, tells Janne Leskinen, Secretary General of Lahti Ski Games and Lahti2017.
The Lahti2017 ticket sales has started well. The number of tickets sold and reserved is 25 000, which is a very good amount compared to previous World Championships in Falun and Oslo. In Falun, the landmark for 50 000 sold tickets was reached four months before the World Championships.
