Starting from January 1st 2017, Quva’s board has two new members. MSc Jorma Tirkkonen starts as the chairman of the board and MSc Jouko Virtanen starts as a board member. Read about Jorma’s and Jouko’s extensive background below. MSc Olli Pasanen and DSc Harri Happonen will continue in Quva’s board as old members.
MSc (Tech.) Jorma Tirkkonen
Tirkkonen has been in the management position of several global business units in Cargotec’s Kalmar business area offering cargo handling solutions and in Valmet Automation offering solutions for pulp and paper industry. He has lived for 12 years in North America first as the President of Valmet Automation’s US and Canada subsidiaries and later as the President of Kalmar’s subsidiary with responsibility over North and South America operations. At the beginning of his career, Tirkkonen has worked in Labko Oy in marketing, R&D, and as managing director. Other earlier positions include expert work for VTT and Tekes, and chairman role in FIMECC’s content workgroup and FIMA board.
MSc (International Business) Jouko Virtanen
Virtanen has 20+ years of experience as an entrepreneur in international B2B field selling decision making support systems and services. His expertise in the field includes managing Market Intelligence firm Global Intelligence Alliance‘s (GIA) business development first in Europe, after which he transferred to North America for 11 years being responsible for the company’s business in USA, Canada and Brazil. Virtanen has extensive background in building profitable SaaS software and service business targeting Fortune 500 companies. As a co-founder of GIA, he had a significant impact on building a EUR 15 million business with 150 employees before the company was acquired by M-Brain Group in 2014. After moving back to Finland with his family, Virtanen has operated as the Chairman of the Board and active Partner for Takeoff Partners. In this capacity, he has worked with numerous growth companies as a seed investor, participating in board and advisor work.
