In July the World Gymnaestrada 2015 will transform Finnish capital Helsinki to a one big gymnastics arena. Approximately 21,000 gymnasts and 1,000 performances have found their place in World Gymnaestrada 2015 Helsinki week and the timetable is now published.
With the World Gymnaestrada’s new programme page everyone can use different kind of filtering and search options to categorise the wide gymnastics supply of the event. Programme page offers an opportunity to create specific timetable for the World Gymnaestrada week according to everyone’s own preferences.
At the World Gymnaestrada everyone have a chance to fall for gymnastics. World Gymnaestrada 2015 week is full of free gymnastics themed happenings around the city of Helsinki. Free Gymnastics Workshops and Gymnastics Testing Area offer a possibility to experience and try different disciplines in gymnastics exercises, artistic gymnastics courses, on trampolines or using rhythmic gymnastics equipment.
The World Gymnaestrada week offers over 200 hours of gymnastics in 15 different venues. Free City Performances will spread the gymnastics festival all around the city and offer over 200 groups and 50 hours of gymnastics performances on three different city stages. Group Performances at the Messukeskus Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre show the variety of gymnastics and offer over 700 performances non-stop from all over the world. Six National Evening and four National Afternoon shows will showcase the variety of different gymnastics cultures. One of the highlights of the whole week FIG Gala will present 20 gymnastics programs from 18 countries and in addition Finnish 2015 World Champion team of Aesthetic Group Gymnastics Minetit is also performing in this high quality gala (Minetit in the picture above).
Gymnaestrada offers over 13 hours of Large Group Performances during the event week. Large Group Performances are the specialty of traditional Finnish gymnastics. Therefore an entire separate show for Large Group Performances, the Midnight Sun Special evening, will be seen first time ever in this 15th World Gymnaestrada in Helsinki. In the World Gymnaestrada 2015 the Large Group Performances come from eight different countries gathering from 100 to even 2,000 gymnasts together on the field. Finnish delegation is the biggest delegation in the whole festival with 4,000 participants and 70 % of Finnish gymnasts are performing in these massive programs.
The World Gymnaestrada 2015 Helsinki is a seven day lasting non-competitive gymnastics festival which will gather together 21,000 participants from more than 50 different countries in Helsinki. The event will start on July 12th and end on July 18th and is in terms of international participants the biggest event ever held in Finland. This worldwide Gymnastics for All event authorised by International Gymnastics Federation is a organised every four years and attracts the largest number of active participants of any FIG event. The President of the Republic of Finland Sauli Niinistö and the First Lady Jenni Haukio act as the patrons of the World Gymnaestrada 2015 Helsinki. The 15th World Gymnaestrada is organised by the Finnish Gymnastics Federation with the cooperation of the City of Helsinki and the Ministry of Education and Culture.
