The Finnish Police Federation’s Election Panel
Annually, approximately 100 000, that is 10 percent, of all urgent calls made are not responded to due to the lack of police resources. Minor crimes against property are left uninvestigated. Under the heavy case load, the police force is truly on the edge. Security is one of Finland’s main competitive advantages in the rapidly changing global context but unfortunately, right now the future does not seem bright.
We challenge candidates of the parliamentary elections from different political parties to discuss the following subjects: How to keep Finland secure in the future, and how to tackle the acute shortage of police resources and find a long-term solution. Before the panel, we will hear a Keynote speech from Calum Steele, the Vice President of the European Confederation of Police EuroCOP (in English) and short opening speeches from the Finnish Police Federation, Finnish National Police Commissioner, and Confederation of Finnish Industries (in Finnish). The discussion will be in Finnish.
A live stream will be available here.
