Helsinki, Finland, November 10, 2015 – Innohome, the world-leading producer of Stove Guards, today announced that it has been named a CES 2016 Innovation Awards Honoree for its innovative Stove Guard.
Innohome’s Stove Guard – the first-ever cooker safety device that has been named as a CES awards nominee – represents state-of-the-art fire safety technology that can prevent most kitchen fires.
Designed in Finland, Stove Guard is a result of years of dedicated research and development. The device reacts in a risk situation before toxic gases are formed and before a fire can start, turning the cooker off and effectively preventing a fire. Stove Guard was also the first cooker safety device in the world to fulfil the new EU standard for stove guards.
The award is an acknowledgment of Stove Guard’s technology, with which the risk of home fires can be reduced by as much as 50 %. The award – in the Accessible Tech category – also acknowledges the possibilities that cooker safety devices can offer in enabling independent living for the elderly and other risk groups: installing a Stove Guard costs about the same asfew days in a residential home.
“Cooker fires are the single most common reason for household fires in Western countries. For over 10 years Innohome has been determined in developing products that can effectively prevent kitchen fires. I’m extremely proud of the fact that the Consumer Electronics Association has recognized our efforts. This award encourages us to expand our operations to the US markets”, says Innohome CEO Pertti Haavisto.
Products chosen as CES Innovation Awards Honorees reflect innovative design and engineering. The entries are evaluated on their engineering, aesthetic and design qualities, intended use/function and user value, how the design and innovation of the product directly compares to other products in the marketplace and unique/novel features present. The judging panel consists of independent industrial designers, independent engineers and members of the trade media.
Innohome’s Stove Guard will be displayed at CES 2016, which runs January 6-9, 2016, in Las Vegas, Nevada. A selection of Honorees will also be displayed at CES Unveiled New York, which features dozens of exhibitors and networking opportunities and runs 4:30-7:30 PM November 10 at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York.
