The last two years have seen the development of a number of cyber range technologies, products, and national and international initiatives. There are several reasons why cyber ranges have suddenly become increasingly popular and more organisations, both private and public, are beginning to invest in them. JAMK University of Applied Sciences leads the activity to research the current state of cyber exercise environments in Europe and globally.
Cyber Security for Europe research project is working together to boost the security of all citizens of the European Union in their everyday digital transactions. Now CyberSec4Europe has released a survey on cyber ranges and their capabilities. The survey gathers data for a report on existing cyber ranges and their requirements from industry and vertical sectors. JAMK University of Applied Sciences, specializing in Cyber Security, is part of the project.
– Strategic alignment by JAMK’s top-management has enabled us to systematically develop our skills and offering since 2011. JAMK specialists bring their recognized skills, several years of proven track record of planning and organizing large scale cyber exercises and the technical cyber exercise environments to the project, says JAMK’s project manager Jani Päijänen.
Other project partners in the activity are VTT (Finland) and Masaryk University (Czech Republic). The survey aims to draw a comprehensive picture about the current state of the various cyber range environments, test-beds and their usage. This, in turn, helps Cyber Security for Europe to design a roadmap for a network of cybersecurity actors and development on a European scale.
