The 2017 Elisa Innovation Challenge has reached the semi-final stage. The competition in search of new success products for the Internet of Things and Smart Home solutions gathered idea proposals from 19 countries. The selected semi-final teams will now begin a 16-week long product development phase. The winner will be announced at the Slush 2017 event in Helsinki.
The third Elisa Innovation Challenge competition is at its semi-final stage in which 10 selected teams will continue their development. The objective of this year's competition is to develop new smart products and services to solve everyday problems experienced at home, by companies and in industry.

Our competitions have processed ideas into actual products sold to customers and internationalisation in just a few months. The competition jury selected ten teams to the semi-final from the competition suggestions submitted before the deadline, 28th of June. Three of the teams develop smart home solutions for the consumer market and seven focus on corporate or industrial B2B solutions. The semi-finalists include 6 teams from Finland, 2 from Israel, 1 from Switzerland and one German-Slovenian team.
During the 16-week long product development phase the semi-finalists will transform their ideas into functional products or services. The solutions may include networking devices, software products, or services that utilise the opportunities provided by the Internet of Things.
In order to facilitate the development of their products, the competitors will be provided access to Elisa's IoT platform, the necessary software tools, and training as needed. Elisa will also offer sparring and marketing assistance for commercialisation.
In addition to Elisa business management, the jury includes Inka Mero, investor and founder of Pivot5, and Petteri Koponen, investor and founder of Lifeline Ventures. They have founded several companies and invested in startups to help them grow. Petteri Koponen is one of the early investors in Supercell.

We create opportunities for new innovations to succeed internationally by providing productisation and business expertise as well as technological support. The Elisa Innovation Challenge will culminate in the presentation of the top three solutions and announcement of the winner as a part of the official program of the Slush startup event in Messukeskus, Helsinki between 30 November and 1 December. The winner will be awarded the main prize, €50 000. The winner of the competition is also eligible to participate in the Slush 100 Pitching Competition.

Humia (B2B)
Humia develops affordable and simple-to-use sensors and services for buildings. Special emphasis is on detecting and preventing moisture and mold-related problems.
IqBox (B2B)
iqBox provides a solution for last mile delivery of groceries even when the recipient is not home during the delivery. The solution consists of physical hardware and a cloud service.
Parquery (B2B)
Parquery is a smart parking solution that uses computer vision and deep learning algorithms running in the cloud to supply real-time data and analytics to smart mobility operators, retail companies and cities.
Pzartech (B2B)
Pzartech develops a 3D recognition technology that enables user of heavy equipment to quickly identify mechanical parts using 3D image processing and deep learning.
Soloblik (B2B)
Soloblik's dynamic warehousing system combines the power of smart sensors with sophisticated data intelligence in the IoT backend. It automatically finds the best free locations for incoming goods and creates a perfect digital mirror of all warehousing operations.
Trenox (B2B)
Team Robocrane has a vision of turning the muscles of the construction site, namely tower cranes, into the brains of the site. The aim is to utilize the natural high ground of the site to provide workers and contractors a more safe and productive environment and finally to automatize the tower crane.
Viimatech (B2B)
Viimatech is developing an extensive, cost optimal IoT solution to monitor pumping environments and electrical motors. The unique solution enables 30–50 percent savings in the operational costs (energy and maintenance) of pumps.
