30 Startupia 16 eri maasta on valikoitunut Kalifornian Piilaaksossa pidettävään startupien World Cupiin – Suomen edustajaksi Next Generation Tech –kategoriaan oululainen FilmMe Group.

SVForum julkaisi julkaisi 30 finaaliin päässeen startupin nimet, jotka kilpailevat tämän vuoden World Cupissa Kalifornian Piilaaksossa Microsoftin kampuksella. Startupit ympäri maailmaa hakivat mukaan edustamaan maitaan kuudessa eri kategoriassa: Digital Media-Mobile, Enterprise Software, EdTech, Next Generation Technology, HealthTech. FilmMe Groupin automaattinen videokamerajärjestelmä kilpailee viiden muun yrityksen kanssa kategoriassa Next Generation Technology.

Viimeiset kahdeksan vuotta Launch: Silicon Valley, jota isännöi ja sponsoroi Microsoft, on antanut startupeille Piilaaksosta ja ympäri maailmaa mahdollisuuden tavata, esittää ideansa ja saada palautetta maailman maineikkaimmilta pääomasijoittajilta, business enkeleiltä, pääomasijoitusyhtiöiltä sekä potentiaalisilta partnereilta ja asiakkailta. Tänä vuonna 30 finaaliin päässyttä yritystä edustavat kuuttatoista maata Kazakhstanista Suomeen ja Thaimaahan saakka.

Kuinka kaikki toimii: Tapahtumapaikka, äänestys ja agenda
Tapahtuma pidetään Microsoftin kampuksella Mountain Viewissä, Kaliforniassa. Se alkaa 8:00 kestäen 17:30 saakka paikallista aikaa.
Finaalissa olevat startupit esittävät tuotteensa World Cup Tech Hallissa ja pitchaavat ideansa lavalla panelistolle, joka koostuu sijoittajista ja muista alan kuuluisuuksista. Jokaisesta kategoriasta valitaan voittajat, jonka lisäksi valitaan yksi kokonaiskisan voittaja. Voittajan valintaan vaikuttaa netissä annetut äänet sekä tuomariston pisteet. Ne startupit, jotka voittavat, saavat palkintoja tapahtuman järjestäjältä ja sponsoreilta. Lisäksi voittajille järjestetään henkilökohtaisia tapaamisia huippusijoittajien ja yritysjohtajien kanssa.
Kansainvälisen teeman mukaisesti jokainen startup edustaa maataan tyylillä – maakohtaiset paidat tehdään osallistuville yrityksille, maiden liput liehuvat ja yritykset saapuvat lavalle kansallislaulujen säestämänä. Launchin yleisöä kannustetaan myös osallistumaan prosessiin: nettiäänestyksen lisäksi yleisö voi kannustaa suosikkiyrityksiään sekä suosikkimaitaan omilla hashtageillaan.
