The movable escape game presented by the IT service company CGI came to SHIFT in 29–30 August. In the game, the players can save their workplace from a major cyber-attack. The aim is for the players to learn the methods most commonly used in data breaches and cyber-attacks and how they can be prevented.
This is the first time CGI has partnered with SHIFT, and it wanted to bring in something completely unique – and Cyber Con is exactly that. CGI Cyber Con Escape Room is an escape room built inside a movable container, which can be parked almost anywhere. While escape rooms have become gained enormous attention in recent years, CGI’s Cyber Con is the only movable escape room with a cybersecurity theme.
“We have our own cybersecurity centre, where we monitor the information security for clients. There we often see the type of risks employees can create, and mistakes they can make, leading to negative outcomes for their employers. People are usually the weakest link of cybersecurity, and that’s why we decided to develop a new kind of solution to this problem,” says Jan Mickos, Vice-President for Cyber Security, CGI.
The escape room is designed for ordinary people, because the lessons learned in training events or lectures are slow to take root in practice. The game starts in a situation, in which the organisation of the team of players has become the target of a major cyber-attack. The entire IT environment has been hijacked and encrypted by ransomware. All production and activities have come to a halt. The escape room acts as the organisation’s IT command centre, where the team must carry out a rescue operation for their organisation while navigating through various tasks related to information security.
“Learning is a key part of the event experience in SHIFT, and it’s great that the community includes partners who make the high-quality training offered at the event even better. We are always looking for new partners with an open-minded attitude towards the changing world,” says Mari Männistö, CEO of the SHIFT Business Festival.
