Tervetuloa 26.5. klo 14-14.45 osallistumaan maailman suurimman analytiikkayritys SAS Instituten medialle suunnattuun webinaariin, jossa esitellään kaksi mielenkiintoista case-esimerkkiä Pohjoismaista:
- miten ruotsalainen El-Kretsen kierrätystoimija pystyi data-analytiikan avulla optimoimaan kuljetusreittejään ja säästämään merkittävästi kustannuksia ja vähentämään päästöjä
- kuinka Accenturen tiimi kehitti videotunnistamiseen perustuvan ratkaisun, jonka avulla voidaan tunnistaa, onko rakennustyömaalla saapuvalla henkilöllä lupa tulla alueelle ja onko hänellä asianmukaiset suojavarusteet.

Program:
Welcome to the press briefing! We are excited to share two cases from the recent Nordic Hackathon 2020 competition. The cases illustrate in each their own way how creative approaches to data mining and analytics will be crucial in fixing the sustainability issues we are facing today. This includes some crucial issues in production and transportation pertaining to climate issues and to the safety and wellbeing of workers, both elements outlined in the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

SHORT PITCHES
Case 1:
Recycling without extra emissions of C02: Optimization of driving routes and vehicles (Team Sigma)
In the Nordic countries, we have well-developed recycling programs where consumers sort everything from plastic and cardboard to electrical scrap to recycling. But the recycling process itself can also be resource-heavy and this project seeks to remedy it. Sigma's data analysts worked in this project together with the Swedish nonprofit recycling program El-Kretsen, which is owned by several industry associations in the production of electronics and electrical goods, as well as with Chalmers Industrial Technology. El-Kretsen serves 1.5 million household recycling containers. more than 5,000 boxes for used batteries and cooperates with 600 recycling centers across Sweden. This requires a lot of driving, which in itself is climate-damaging - about 3.5 tonnes of CO2 are emitted annually in the process.
Sigma used data sets from the roadmap to look at ways to optimize routes and vehicles of the right size. Planning based on these data sets can reduce emissions by around 30 percent while lowering transportation costs. In the process, reports are produced which can be used for further optimization. Case 2: The accident that never happened: Prevention via facial recognition for access control (Team Accenture)
Every year around 2.3 million work accidents are reported to international organizations and the real figure is probably far greater. Most work accidents are recorded after they have occurred in so-called incident reports. A team of data analysts from Accenture developed a solution where image recognition of both faces and objects helps ensure that no one enters a building site without wearing the proper safety equipment - and that the people entering are approved for to be present. In this way, it can be more preventable that the accidents happen at all and that only authorized persons have access to places where risky work is performed. Watch video here:
