The Finnish “in-screen” technology company to accelerate sales and execution of product roadmap.
Helsinki, Finland – Camment (formerly Sportacam), the “in-screen” technology company, that unifies the first and second screen experience, allows broadcasters and rights owners to offer social layers on top of their shows and clips, and thereby taking control over data otherwise lost to second screens, today announced it has completed a 650 000 EUR round of financing.
Jari Ovaskainen led the round with participation from existing investors Superhero Capital, Veturi Growth Accelerator, Jari Litmanen, Petteri Koponen, Jarkko Nieminen and several others.
The investment brings Camment’s total funding to 2 MEUR and will help the company expand its sales team as well as accelerate product development. Ovaskainen will join Camment’s board of directors.
Ovaskainen invests in early stage start-ups with high potential that cater to large markets, with notable investments such as Supercell and Next Games.
“Camment is operating in a rapidly growing multibillion dollar market where up to 9/10 viewers use second screens, at a time when broadcasters and rights owners are constantly looking for new innovations that can help them retain and engage their audiences,” said Jari Ovaskainen.
Camment is a patent pending technology and an SDK that can be easily integrated into all digital and linear medias, enabling clients to provide a social layer on top of their streams, clips or linear broadcasts where audiences can video chat, order food or face-swap with actors in TV shows while watching.
For medias, who are losing out on eye pairs and attention to second screens Camment provides a way to retain and engage their audience, in-screen.
“We are amidst a massive transformation of the viewing experience with both VR and AR incoming. Camment (short for comment with camera) simply offers an elegant, and easy, monetisable social solution to all video-based medias, whether its live sports, VOD or clips,” said CEO and co-founder Tomi Kaukinen.
“Having Ovaskainen on board, with his experience and network in both gaming and the entertainment industry is extremely valuable for us and enables us to move faster and getting the right deals,” Kaukinen continued.
