The program for the 22nd Air Guitar World Championships, held in Oulu, Finland is now ready. This year’s theme is climate change and in relation to that, co-operation with WWF Finland, among others, has been put into practice to emphasize the importance of clean air, the material of the instruments played at the event.
The event kicks off on Wednesday the 23rd of August with an “Airientation” day, where the participants can be a part of the international Air Guitar community and enjoy a unique program with local specialities, like sauna on a raft!
On August 24th it´s time for Dark Horses’ Qualifiers, which is the last chance to earn a spot on the World Final and challenge last year’s Champion, Matt “Airistotle” Burns (USA) and National winners for the title. Enrollment for the Dark Horses´ Qualifiers is open until August 11th.
The Final event will be held on Friday the 25th at the newly renovated Kuusisaari event park, located on a beautiful island just a walking distance from the city center. The show will start with a bang, as Temple Balls, A young and rising Hard Rock group from Oulu will perform at the stage to launch the “Airnival”.

The purpose of the Air Guitar World Championships is to promote world peace. According to the ideology of the Air Guitar, wars would end, climate change stop and all bad things disappear, if all the people in the world played the Air Guitar. This is why the whole universe is invited to play the Air Guitar for the world peace at the end of the competition.
