Jussi Aho, CEO of the construction business moderniser Fira was awarded the gold Medal of Merit of the Police last week. The medal was awarded by Minister of the Interior Paula Risikko and National Police Commissioner Seppo Kolehmainen. Aho received the medal in recognition of his work in preventing corruption and the black economy. The medal is rarely awarded to civilians, and it is unique among business executives.
Aho has made public appearances in the matter and emphasised the significance of culture in combatting misdemeanors. An open and interactive corporate culture facilitates good and fair business practices. Executives have the primary responsibility for the development of corporate culture.
“It is difficult to imagine that any other recognition could mean as much as this to me personally. It is a fabulous thing that you can receive such a significant recognition for this kind of work in Finland. Moreover, I feel that this is also recognition of the work done by Fira. The functioning and development of the Finnish society as a whole is based on transparent and fair practices,” says Aho.
