A customer advisor for Russian-speaking customers will be available by phone.
Until now, Russian-speaking customers have been able to communicate with Kela through an interpreter or via videoconferencing, the latter of which has been the most popular foreign-language remote customer service option offered by Kela.
Besides the videoconferencing alternative, customers will now have access to a call-back service which they can use to provide their contact information in Russian. Kela will contact callers within two working days. Messages requesting a call-back can be left at 020 634 2232.
Kela will make more extensive use of its staff’s language skills. Over the past year, the customer service unit for the greater Helsinki area has hired staff whose first language is other than Finnish. This ensures that customers will get professional help with Kela-related matters in their native language, and also saves on interpretation costs.
Depending on how the new Russian-language service received, the same type of service may be provided in other languages as well. The service is coordinated by the In To Finland service point
