In January 2016, Finnish Customs seized a concealed submachine gun classified as an automatic firearm as well as a matching magazine and silencer from a passenger car that had arrived in Finland from Estonia. In addition to the driver, there was one passenger in the car. The driver and the passenger are being detained on probable cause for an aggravated firearms offence.
Based on the preliminary investigation carried out by Customs, there is reason to suspect that the import of the submachine gun involved a person active in Cannonball MC and that the submachine gun would have been delivered to the premises of Cannonball MC in Finland.
The preliminary investigation carried out by the National Bureau of Investigation concerns the member of Cannonball MC. During the preliminary investigation, there has been cooperation with the Estonian authorities. In connection with the preliminary investigation, house searches were conducted e.g. at the premises of Cannonball MC in Finland and in Estonia.
The case will be transferred to the Prosecutor’s Office of Helsinki for consideration of charges during March 2016.
