Fennovoima has accepted the finished Hanhikivi access road from Suomen Maastorakentajat Oy. The access road, worth over 5 million euros, is the first sub-contract that has been finished on the Hanhikivi peninsula. In addition to the access road itself, the work included its lighting and embankment landscaping.
The access road links the power plant site with national road 8. Suomen Maastorakentajat has built the about four kilometre long road with two lanes, a pedestrian and bicycle way, a bridge as well as water and sewage pipes to the site and accommodation areas.
The construction work was finished according to the original schedule and handed over to Fennovoima on Thursday, October 15th. The work started in September 2014. The access road plans were made by Destia, and the construction consultant was Ramboll CM Oy.
The Hanhikivi access road is a private road for the moment, but will become a public road later on. The access road is a part of the Hanhikivi peninsula construction site, so any traffic on the road requires a permit from Fennovoima. To ensure security on the construction site, access passes will be checked on entry to the area.
