While RFID Chip Parties are already popular in Stockholm & Sweden,SHIFT Business Festival now brings the first chip implant party to Finland. As usual, SHIFT sets the bar high with a unique setting - a Chip Party of several thousand business people in an old prison. On Wednesday night at the SHIFT 2018 After Party, festival visitors will have not only a possibility to get acquainted with the numerous possibilities RFID chips offer for wireless communication and information transfer, but also get an actual implant as well.
The long awaited implanted RFID microchip will finally arrive to Finland with Lassi Sidoro. He is one of the most experienced and respected European body modification artists and provides professional RFID implant procedures. “Naturally I have a chip of my own. There I have two different levels of information - totally open like my visit card, and totally personal which I use to open my phone and computer.”, Sidoro says.
The chip Sidoro uses is developed by an American company called Dangerous Things and it uses RFID (radio-frequency identification) technology. It can be used to, for example, open a laptop or an electronic locks without a manual access code, start a car without a separate key. The implant is about 2 millimeters wide and 5 millimeters long, and it is placed under the skin with a special applicator. And it’s completely safe - having been stress tested at MIT and reached the five-year limit of medically accepted implant.
“History shows people will ultimately always prefer efficiency and all-in-one solutions when it comes to devices. As technological and medical development will allow implanting the technologies straight into our bodies, it is highly likely that all excess devices reducing efficiency will ultimately be eliminated, and the human body will become a hybrid device in itself. RFID chips are the first step towards this. At SHIFT early adopters of the new trend are encouraged to get a new implant.”, Alexander Törnroth from SHIFT envisions.
At SHIFT 2018, the future of the human body will be discussed in the Amplified Humans program track. Especially the Swedish Chip Guy Hannes Sjöblad’s keynote ”Connected Body – The Internet of Humans” will cover the subject of RFID chip implants.
