The founder of Finland’s largest P2P car sharing service Blox Car, Paul Nyberg, is preparing for a campaign to help out nurses who still need to travel to work. Is your car standing still because of the lockdown and social distancing? Would you be willing to borrow it to a nurse who works in intensive care in your region?
The health care personnel are running a constant risk of getting the corona virus and still they are working around the clock to save the patients. Not all of them have a car that they can use to get to work and therefore they rely on public transport. “If they would be able to use cars the risk of transmitting the virus would radically drop”, says Paul about his campaign.
To make the campaign happen he has ordered 10 ozonisers of the same make and model as the police use in Ostrobothnia in order to sanitize the patrol cars. The campaign gets support from a recent Swiss study about the effect on ozone treatment on viruses, which is also backed up by earlier scientific research.

The cars used in the campaign will get ozonated between the trips and also all hard surfaces like the steering wheel, gear stick and controls to be wiped. The state research department VTT is also currently mapping their capability of conducting a study of the effect on ozone treatment on viruses.
Nyberg is giving four of his cars to the campaign and he has also contacted the Helsinki University Hospital to map out people who want to participate in the pilot.
He is challenging car owners all over Finland to join the campaign and provide cars to the health care personnel to make both their and our travel safer. Anyone who lives maximum 50 km from a hospital where corona patients are treated and has a spare car can participate.
If you are interested in helping out, please contact [email protected]. If the pilot is a success then the campaign is extended to everyone working with an immediate risk of getting the virus.
