The Board of the Finnish Science Centre Foundation has appointed Honorary Doctor of Technology Anneli Pauli, D.Sc. in Agriculture and Forestry, and Senior Lecturer on microbiology in water and wastewater engineering, as the new Director of the Finnish Science Centre Heureka. Anneli Pauli is currently serving in Brussels as the Deputy Director-General for the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation. She will assume her position as the Director of Heureka in October after the current Director, Per-Edvin Persson, has retired.
Persson has held the position of Director for Heureka since 1991, and before that, he was Heureka’s Director of Science from 1987-1991. Under Persson’s leadership, Heureka has developed into an internationally recognised science centre and a leading actor in the field that is known for its innovative and interactive exhibitions. The Finnish Science Centre Heureka is one of Finland’s most popular attractions, with an annual total of about 300,000 visitors.
