The main building contractor of Hanhikivi 1 nuclear power plant project Titan-2 has signed a subcontractor contract with Destia. Destia was selected to carry out a contract, which includes preparatory construction work at the plant site such as removal of soil material and vegetation, excavation and building embankments. Destia will begin work at the construction site in August. The estimated duration of the work is six months. Titan-2 and Destia have agreed not to disclose the exact value of the contract.
The current construction works are carried out to prepare the plant site for the construction of the nuclear power plant. The construction of the power plant will start in 2018 after the Government has granted the Construction License pursuant to the Nuclear Energy Act.
– We will announce new contracts concerning the construction work at the plant site in the near future, the Deputy Director of Titan-2 Alexander Zmikhnovskiy promises.
The construction of Hanhikivi 1 nuclear power plant is one of the main projects of Titan-2. The company has previous experience of similar construction projects. Titan-2 is in charge of constructing the Leningrad II-1 nuclear power plant in Sosnovy Bor, which is the reference plant of Hanhikivi 1.
