LOGISTICS INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS TO CONVENE IN TAMPERE IN APRIL
The Logistics 2013 fair will bring materials handling and logistics professionals to Tampere Exhibition and Sports Centre on 17–19 April 2013. The professional trade fair, to be organised for the second time in 2013, has attracted widespread attention, with many notable players in the industry already registered as exhibitors for next spring. The number of foreign exhibitors will be up from the previous year. Logistics 2013 will coincide with the Teolliset Palvelut – Industrial Services Fair, to be held 17–18 April 2013. The Food Manufacturing Trade Fair, which was to take place in conjunction with Logistics 2013, has now been re-scheduled for 2014.
Logistics 2013 is a trade fair targeted at professionals and decision-makers in logistics, especially those involved in materials handling and internal logistics.
“Materials handling and logistics professionals are enthusiastic about the Logistics 2013 fair. Judging from the fact that more than 70 per cent of the exhibition area has already been booked, there is definite demand for an event that showcases internal logistics, materials handling, and logistics and warehousing services. Next spring will see all leading players within the industry gather under one roof. Hall D will house logistics services, port operations, ICT, data collection and education, while Hall C will be dedicated to machines and equipment used in materials handling and internal logistics,” says Jani Maja, Project Manager for Tampere Trade Fairs Ltd.
Two trade fairs at once and a rich programme of seminars
The three-day Logistics 2013 fair will coincide with the two-day Teolliset Palvelut – Industrial Services Fair, which is the main event for maintenance and production services in Finland.
“April promises a particularly rich and varied events programme in Tampere, thanks to the two events, Logistics 2013 and Teolliset Palvelut – Industrial Services Fair, overlapping. There's a mutual boost effect and considerable synergies to benefit both exhibitors and visitors. Besides new products, services and solutions, the two events will offer professionals high-quality seminars, information bulletins and opportunities for networking,” explains Hannu Vähätalo, Managing Director of Tampere Trade Fairs Ltd.
The Logistics 2013 seminars will highlight topics related to the important role of logistics e.g. in terms of competitiveness, current developments in port operations, measurable benefits of logistics outsourcing, logistics system development in Finland, practical implications of the EU sulphur directive, logistics infrastructure development on municipal level, and the different possibilities of RFID technology.
Spring an ideal time for a professional trade fair in logistics
The first Logistics fair, held in autumn 2011, brought 110 exhibitors and 4,380 visitors to Tampere. According to a visitor survey conducted by Suomen Aktiivitieto Oy at the Logistics 2011 fair, 98 per cent of visitors said that the event had met their expectations. The most interesting equipment, services and solutions as ranked by survey respondents were forklifts, internal logistics and related services, and materials handling. In response to feedback from exhibitors, the next event will be held in the spring to give companies an early start in showcasing their latest products. Compared to autumn, spring is also a less busy time of year for trade fairs in the industry.
To be organised by Tampere Trade Fairs Ltd in collaboration with the Industrial Trucks Section of the Association of Finnish Technical Traders, the Logistics 2013 fair will be held at Tampere Exhibition and Sports Centre, Halls C and D, on 17–19 April 2013. The Teolliset Palvelut – Industrial Services Fair will be organised by Expomark Oy and Finnish Maintenance Society Promaint on 17–18 April 2013.
